Yadah stretch lead at the top to 5 points with win over Power FC

Yadah have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League after a clinical 2-0 win over Power FC in a Week 22 encounter played at Heart Stadium yesterday.

The match was the first of two fixtures that kicked off Week 22, with the rest of the matches scheduled for today and tomorrow as the race for promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League continues to intensify in the Eastern Region.

Yadah did not waste time stamping their authority.

James Nguluve broke the deadlock in the 18th minute with a composed finish to put the league leaders ahead. Vincent Sango then made sure of the points six minutes before halftime, striking in the 39th minute to wrap up a professional afternoon for the log leaders. The win takes Yadah to 46 points from 21 games.

Elsewhere, Destiny Stars FC picked up a vital 2-1 victory over Bikita Minerals FC at Mutare Boys High.

Challenge Chabata gave Destiny Stars an early lift with a 10th minute opener, and Talent Mwasembura doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime.

Bikita Minerals pulled one back through Prince Makurumidze who converted from the penalty spot, but it was only a consolation as Destiny Stars held on for all three points.

The result moves Destiny Stars to 26 points, just one behind 9th placed Masvingo United FC as they look to climb further up the table.

With tomorrow’s fixtures still pending, Yadah now sit 5 points clear at the summit. Second placed Tenax CS FC, who are on 41 points, will have a chance to cut the gap when they travel to Gathsmine Stadium to face Great Zimbabwe University FC.

As the second round gathers pace, every point is becoming crucial and Yadah’s statement win on Friday has put the pressure firmly on their chasing pack.
