CAF disappointment now behind us, says Dynamos coach Aristică Cioabă

Dynamos coach Aristică Cioabă says the disappointment of missing out on this year’s CAF Confederation Cup is now a thing of the past and the Glamour Boys are fully focused on defending their Chibuku Super Cup title.

DeMbare, who won the knockout tournament last year after beating Triangle United in the final thereby earning the ticket to represent Zimbabwe in the Confederation Cup, will not take part in the continental tournament.

Cioabă insists the setback is now water under the bridge and the focus is solely on beating TelOne at Rufaro Stadium tomorrow.

“It’s in the past now, I have forgotten everything and everybody understands the situation. Therefore, there is no need to talk about it and to also remember it,” Cioabă told journalists after yesterday’s training session.

“Everybody wanted to play in the CAF Confederation Cup, it’s a very nice competition since it’s international and gives the players experience and also to the club but this is the situation.

“I don’t know what happened and I don’t like to comment much, I prefer to just instill some morale within the players.

“We have to keep fighting,” he added.

DeMbare welcome a TelOne side buoyed by the arrival of Joel Luphahla, who replaced Saul Chaminuka in the WiFi Boys’ dugout last week and has been tasked with saving the Gweru-based side from relegation.

Luphahla is a no stranger to how Dynamos operate, having been their assistant two seasons ago, while TelOne captain Frank Makarati also wore the arm band in the blue half of Harare before moving to the WiFi Boys.
