Title race in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League reignites this Friday
After a two-week break, the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League is back and it is wasting no time.
Week 20 kicks off this Friday 31 July 2026, and from the very first whistle the second half of the season promises drama, revenge, and a genuine title fight.
The pick of the fixtures lands on Saturday at Heart Stadium in Harare where league leaders Yadah FC host Tenax CS FC in what is effectively a top-of-the-table clash.
Yadah sit on 40 points from 18 games, but Tenax are breathing down their necks on 38.
The reverse fixture at Mutare Boys High School ended in a stalemate, and this one has all the makings of another epic.
Tenax come into the game unbeaten in their last five, a run that earned Gibson Mutemera the June Coach of the Month accolade.
For Yadah, it’s about holding their nerve at home and proving why they’ve been top for so long. For Tenax, it’s a chance to go top and land a psychological blow to start the second half.
Across the region, another game carries just as much heat for different reasons.
Grand Legacy FC welcome Green Fuel FC to St Paul’s Musami Stadium on Saturday. On paper it’s 4th vs 5th. In reality it’s a powder keg.
Grand Legacy sit 4th on the log with 35 points from 19 games, 5 points behind leaders Yadah.
Green Fuel are 5th with 34 points from 18 games, 6 points off the top. Legacy were crushed 3-0 by Green Fuel in Chisumbanje in the reverse fixture.
But the tables have turned. Legacy are now unbeaten in six at home and have just undergone major change in the dugout.
Head coach Willard Katsande tendered his resignation recently. Sources close to the club told Fanzone that talks of a sensational return with the Legacy hierarchy stalled after Katsande presented demands.
With that deal off, Legacy moved quickly and appointed former Agama FC and Chegutu Pirates coach Paul Chimalizeni, who now has his hands full immediately.
The drama didn’t stop there, as soon as Chimalizeni was confirmed at Legacy, word spread that Katsande was heading to Green Fuel.
But sources close to Green Fuel have indicated that the deal could be off.
For Green Fuel, the timing couldn’t be worse, they arrive in Musami on a three-match winless run that has pushed them back in the championship picture.
That slump reportedly cost Arnold Jani his job. They will be desperate to stop the rot against a Legacy side that will be fired up to avenge that 3-0 hiding.
Friday gets things going with two 15:00 kickoffs.
Africa Mineral Ventures FC, sitting 2nd on 38 points, host Manica Diamonds U19 FC at Vengere and will be looking to pile pressure on Yadah.
At Chisamba, Destiny Stars FC take on Deportivo La Murambinda FC in a mid-table tussle.
Murambinda come into this one in transition after recently parting ways with head coach Lovemore Dzoro.
George Magariro is tipped to be in charge for this game.
Saturday is stacked, alongside the two big games, Mutare City Rovers FC face Renco Mine FC at Chisamba, Great Zimbabwe University FC host Masvingo United FC at Gaths Mine, and at the bottom Four Lions FC and FC Wangu Mazodze meet at Mucheke in a crucial relegation six-pointer.
Both clubs are in the drop zone on 9 and 15 points respectively.
Sunday wraps it up with Buffaloes FC vs Bikita Minerals FC at Mutare Showgrounds and Chivhu FC vs Bikita Chida Athletic Club at Garwe.
