Table shakes in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League as Tongogara United withdrawal hands lifeline to title chasers

The Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League just dropped a curveball that’s already reshaping the title race.

As reported earlier the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League finally confirmed the withdrawal of Tongogara United FC from the 2026 season after the club failed to fulfil three consecutive fixtures.

Citing reduced donor funding, Tongogara’s exit is immediate, and per Rule 9.7, all points and goals involving them are wiped from the record books.

For fans scrolling the table, that’s not just admin housekeeping. It is a pressure release valve for the teams at the top, and it changes the story of the season overnight.

Right now Yadah FC sit pretty on 27 points after 11 games, unbeaten and leading the pack, while Tenax CS FC and Bikita Minerals FC are locked on 21 points each, sitting 6th and 7th respectively but very much in the mix for a late surge.

The kicker is that all three played Tongogara United earlier in the season, and each banked 3 points from those fixtures.

With those results now nullified, the table will shift once PSERSL updates it.

That means Yadah drop from 27 to 24 points. They’re still top, but the gap to 2nd-place Deportivo La Murambinda FC narrows from 4 points to just 1.

Suddenly every game matters even more, and the cushion they built against the bottom side is gone.

The title race is back to knife-edge territory. Tenax and Bikita both lose 3 points as well, dropping to 18 points each and slipping down the table, but they’re not out of it.

With 15-plus games still to play for most teams, 18 points keeps them within touching distance of the top 5. A three-game winning run could catapult either side back into top 4 contention.

It’s not just about numbers though. It’s about momentum and belief.

The chasing pack stays bunched, and no one gets free points anymore.

Even the bottom half breathes a little easier. Teams like 4 Lions FC and Power FC, who also played Tongogara, will see the relegation battle tighten up because those walkover points are gone.

Tongogara’s withdrawal is also a reminder of how fragile lower-league football can be when funding dries up.

The leagur thanked the club for its contribution to football in Chipinge and the Eastern Region, and fans across the league have echoed that sentiment.

One less club means fewer derby days, fewer stories, fewer chances for local lads to play. But for the league, it also means clarity.

No more postponed fixtures, no more 3-0 walkovers hanging over the table. The race from here on out is on the pitch, between teams that can show up.

Keep your eyes on Yadah’s next fixture. With Deportivo breathing down their neck, the log leaders can’t afford a slip.

For Tenax and Bikita, it’s about responding fast and making up the lost points against teams around them.
