Shock as Lovemore Dzoro quits Deportivo La Murambinda

In a shocking turn of events, coach Lovemore Dzoro has parted ways with promising Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League outfit Deportivo La Murambinda, Fanzone has learnt.

It is a significant blow for the Murambinda-based side, who are right in the mix in the championship race. Sources close to the club said the split had been brewing for weeks.

The fallout centred on interference in technical matters, lack of executive support, remuneration and recruitment issues ahead of the second half of the season. Fanzone is in possession of a leaked resignation letter dated 24 June 2026 which Dzoro sent to the club chairman.

WHY LOVEMORE DZORO QUIT DEPORTIVO LA MURAMBINDA

In the letter Dzoro said: “After careful consideration, I hereby resign from my position as Head Coach of Deportivo La Murambinda FC, effective 24/06/26. This was not an easy decision. I am proud of what we have built together.

“We sit sixth at the halfway stage with 34 points, 6 points behind the log leaders. The culture and discipline in the team has improved. I remain grateful for the opportunity and the support from the executive, players and the Murambinda community.

“To ensure a smooth transition, I am committed to handing over all team training plans before my departure. The reason for my resignation is interference in technical matters and lack of support, which makes it impossible for me to do the job professionally. I am proud of what we achieved.”

In another leaked letter also in Fanzone’s possession, dated 24 July 2026 and addressed to Dzoro, the club terminated his engagement with immediate effect, citing “confirmed reports of unauthorized conduct”, specifically “unsanctioned involvement with external teams while still under contract.”

DEPORTIVO LA MURAMBINDA LEFT IN GOOD POSITION

Dzoro leaves Murambinda in a strong position. After 18 games, Deportivo sit 6th in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League on 34 points, just 6 points behind log leaders Yadah FC on 40 points. They are firmly regarded as one of the dark horses in this year’s title race.

This is not the first coaching shake-up at the club this season. Early in the campaign, assistant coaches Ben Chari and Prince “Skeelo” Tafirenyika also quit. The club is now expected to turn to new assistant coach George Magariro to take over the reins.

Magariro, a former Dynamos FC defender, only joined the ambitious side a few days ago. He is not new to coaching in the region, having previously worked with Great Zimbabwe University FC and Masvingo United FC.

With half the season still to play, all eyes will be on Murambinda to see if Magariro can keep their title push on track.
