Yadah FC Assistant Coach Francisco Maapapi bullish ahead of Mutare City Rovers clash
Yadah FC assistant coach Francisco Maapapi says the squad is locked in and ready for tomorrow’s Week 12 trip to Mutare City Rovers, insisting the camp hasn’t been rattled by the recent point forfeiture.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Fanzone, Maapapi said preparations at the training ground have been “very much on point” despite head coach Kudakwashe Masaraure being away on a coaching course.
“Preparations have gone on well and the boys are very much focused on grinding out a positive result,” Maapapi said. “The transition of working with the boys this week has been smooth because of the ground work and work ethic that Coach Masaraure has already instilled in the team.”
The Miracle Boys enter Week 12 with a 1-point lead at the top of the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League after points collected against Tongogara United FC were nullified when the club withdrew from the league.
Maapapi says the forfeiture hasn’t shifted the team’s mindset.
Second placed Deportivo La Murambinda are breathing down their neck.
“We are not worried about those points and their forfeiture. It does not affect our plans for the season. We are taking it one game at a time,” he said. “We are not worried about Deportivo La Murambinda. Our focus is only on the opponent we will be facing on a particular day.”
The assistant coach said the mood in camp is strong heading into the away fixture at Chisamba Grounds.
“The morale in the camp is high and the boys are raring to go. Everyone is focused on grinding a positive result away from home,” Maapapi said.
Yadah will be looking to hold onto top spot as the league enters a critical phase of the season.
