Munashe Mudowaya says he’s fully focused on helping Deportivo La Murambinda grind out a positive result tomorrow when they welcome unbeaten Green Fuel FC to Uhera Stadium in a rearranged Week 13 fixture.

“I’m fully focused on helping the team get a positive result tomorrow,” the full-back told Fanzone. “Green Fuel are yet to taste defeat this season, but we are ready for them.”

Mudowaya, who has 3 goals across all competitions this season, believes the clash is a perfect springboard as La Murambinda try to rubberstamp their name in the epic three-way battle for the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League crown. “This match is a perfect springboard for us as we try to rubberstamp our name in this race,” he added.

With the halfway point approaching, the log makes the stakes clear. Tenax CS FC lead on 32 points from 16 games, but Green Fuel sit 2nd on 31pts from 15 games and Deportivo are 4th on 30pts from 15 games, just two off top. Former log leaders Yadah FC are also lurking on 31pts with a game in hand. One result tomorrow and the table shifts again.

Mudowaya, who joined Deportivo early this year after helping FC Hunters lift the Eastern Region title last season, says the Murambinda base has the depth to go all the way. “We have the base and depth to win this crown and earn promotion to the Premier Soccer League,” he told Fanzone.

The full-back pointed to the balance in the squad, with Ghanaian striker Enock Sackey scoring important goals, midfielder Kofi Sarfo a revelation in the middle, reigning May Player of the Month George Adu pulling strings, and centre back Andrew Allotey anchoring the defence.

That quartet has helped make Deportivo one of the dark horses in the race.

The defender also credited coach Lovemore Dzoro’s “one game at a time” mentality for keeping pressure off the group. “He’s a very experienced coach who has been pushing us to reach our full potential. His one game at a time mentality has really taken the pressure away because we don’t read much into it,” added Mudowaya.

Green Fuel arrive at Uhera yet to taste defeat this season – 8 wins, 7 draws from 15 games with a league-best defence of just 4 goals conceded.

Deportivo, fresh off a 3-0 win over Power FC with Sackey bagging a brace, have the firepower to test them.

For Mudowaya, it’s simple: focus on the 90 minutes ahead and let the log sort itself out later.

Tomorrow at Uhera, the title race gets another chapter, with Yadah FC hosting Africa Mineral Ventures FC at Heart Stadium.
