TelOne sign veteran Silas Songani in bid to turn PSL season around

Troubled PSL side TelOne FC have completed the signing of veteran forward Silas Songani, seen as a morale boost amid their ongoing crisis.
The 36-year-old arrived in Gweru over a month ago under Herbert Maruwa, though his chances of putting pen to paper looked slim at the time.
However, the club have now handed him a contract in the first of several moves aimed at turning their season around. Songani signed his contract on Sunday.
With 11 caps to his name, Songani brings a wealth of experience to Saul Chaminuka’s side. The 2013 Soccer Star of the Year runner-up was last on the books of Icelandic side IF Vestri.
Songani made his mark at Harare City in 2013 before being lured to Denmark, narrowly missing out on the Soccer Star of the Year gong to former Dynamos star Tawanda Muparati. He went on to have several stints at Sønderjyske, FC Sydvest 05, and Elverum Fotball.
He is now back in Zimbabwe, hoping to wrap up his career in style, but he will need a lot of inspiration as he joins a team anchoring the PSL table after 15 games, with only one win to show for it.
Locally, Songani also starred for four-time champions FC Platinum between 2020 and 2021, a period that saw them clinch the PSL title.
TelOne will hope a home crowd can restore their confidence when they face Highlanders at Ascot Stadium on Saturday.
