Nyamajiwa’s lucky charm on the move

‎Former FC Hunters striker Ashford Nyamajiwa is hoping that his talismanic knack of helping division one sides earn promotion to the Premier Soccer League will follow him at his new base Africa Mineral Ventures Football Club as they navigate the 2026 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season.

‎In an exclusive interview with Fanzone, former FC Hunters striker Ashford Nyamajiwa opens up about the driving forces behind his remarkable track record of helping division one teams earn promotion to the Premier Soccer League.

‎With a humble tone and a hint’s heart, Nyamajiwa shared the secrets to his success, attributing it to his unwavering faith and a knack for helping teams get promoted.

‎”Through my mind, I don’t think a lot, but my main focus is to wait for the Lord to open some doors for me,” he revealed, setting the tone for a conversation that would blend spirituality with sporting prowess.

‎”What inspires me to keep me in lower division is I’ve seen a lot, and I’ve got a knack for helping teams get promoted,” Nyamajiwa added, leaving no doubt that this AMV move will be just as impactful.

‎Nyamajiwa’s impressive CV includes a successful stint at Flame Lily few years ago, MWOS FC finish second in the Northern Region Soccer League (before acquiring ZPC Hwange FC’s franchise to get into the PSL), and FC Hunters win promotion to the Premier Soccer League.

‎He also had a close stint with Black Mambas FC, who finished second twice in the Northern Region Soccer League.

‎Now, he’s set his sights on helping AMV FC make the leap to the top flight.

‎The Rusape-based side has assembled a formidable squad, featuring veterans like Takabva Mawaya, Devon Chafa, Adam Tende, and Blessing Sarupinda.

‎Nyamajiwa made his debut for AMV FC in their 4-0 thrashing of Manica Diamonds U19 FC over the weekend, and he’s eager to collect maximum points in their upcoming matches. “My expectations for the game is to win and collect maximum points,” he said. “Our target is to play each game as our final one.”

‎With Nyamajiwa on board, AMV FC are looking like strong contenders for the 2026 Premier Soccer League ticket.

‎As he said, “Munhu anoita zvakanaka zviri outstanding ane mentality yaShe Jesu Kristu” (A person who does great things has the mentality of Jesus Christ).

‎Nyamajiwa’s advice to others is to preserve the word of God and prioritize prayers. “My advise I give to others is preserving the word of God, uye kunokunda zvose (and overcoming everything), and the importance of prayers keeps us going in everything we do in life and inside the pitch,” he said.

‎With faith, hard work, and a bit of luck, Nyamajiwa is confident that AMV FC will achieve greatness. “Tiripamukwidza unorema uye tinozofanira kuramba tichitakura maJoko kuti basa raMwari rifambe zvakanaka” (We are on the mountain, and we must continue to carry the burden so that God’s work can be done).
