Dynamos delivered one of their biggest results of the season after coming from behind to defeat Ngezi Platinum Stars 2-1 at Rufaro Stadium, ending the visitors’ remarkable 14-match unbeaten run in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Ngezi made the perfect start to the contest, taking the lead in just the sixth minute. Praise Machengete rose highest to meet a corner from Qadr Amini and headed home to put the platinum miners in control. For much of the opening exchanges, Ngezi looked comfortable and appeared capable of extending their impressive unbeaten record.

However, Dynamos gradually settled into the match and found an equaliser before the half-hour mark. A well-worked team move involving Frank Agyemang, Leeroy Mavhunga and Wisdom Mutasa ended with Abel Gwatidzo applying the finishing touch from close range to level matters at 1-1.

The equaliser shifted the momentum firmly in Dynamos’ favour. The Glamour Boys grew in confidence and began asking more questions of the Ngezi defence as the second half progressed. Coach Genesis Mangombe’s substitutions proved decisive, with two substitutes combining for the winning goal.

Telmore Pio burst down the right flank and delivered a dangerous cross into the box, where veteran striker Moses Demera was perfectly placed to convert from close range with 20 minutes remaining. The goal was particularly significant as Demera was facing his former club and ultimately became the man who ended Ngezi’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

The victory provided a major boost to Dynamos’ title ambitions and demonstrated their resilience after falling behind early. For Ngezi Platinum, it was a disappointing end to a superb unbeaten run, but their performance throughout the season remains a testament to the strong team spirit that has made them one of the league’s most consistent sides.
