Yoko’s composure, Musami stays strong

Murehwa has a new hero and his nickname is Yoko.

Munashe Nandolo scored again over the weekend as Grand Legacy Football Club beat Chivhu Football Club 1-0 at Garwe Stadium in Chivhu.

That was his sixth goal of the season. The Grand Legacy FC midfielder is now one goal behind the league’s top scorers.

Masvingo United’s Blessing Sibanda and Africa Mineral Ventures’ Blessing Sarupinda lead with seven.

But Nandolo cares more about defense than goals. Grand Legacy have not conceded at St Paul’s Musami Stadium this season. Twelve weeks in, they have not lost at home. They have not been scored against. Teams come to Murehwa and leave with nothing.

“First I want to thank God almighty for taking me this far, its not easy but I want to thank the coaches who have installed confidence on me and he is encouraging us as a team to work hard during training and the coaches always pushes us to do better I think that is the secret only,” Nandolo told Fanzone.

Things changed when Willard Katsande took over. Grand Legacy have not lost since. They are fourth on the log with 22 points. They trail Yadah FC by five points. The belief is firmly on.

Katsande helped Nandolo most. He gave him one word. Composure.

“Coach Kastande always said composure Yoko near the opposition box you will score more goals,” Nandolo said.

You can see it now. Nandolo does not rush his shots. He finds space. He arrives late. He finishes calmly. Six goals in 12 games from midfield is not luck. It is timing and work.

The team mirrors him. No egos. No panic. Just work. They defend well at Musami. They grind out results. Nandolo celebrates with teammates, not alone.

Golden boot talk follows him now. He is one goal off top spot. But Nandolo keeps it about the team.

“On that one winning as a team is more important than winning the golden boot it’s actually a bonus if I win the golden boot, team first that is more important to me. When playing I just play for the success of the team I don’t put to much pressure on myself. It will be a biggest achievement to finish as a top goal score buh my aim is to win with the boys something for the club.”

For Nandolo, this season is already a win. He is scoring. He is helping the team. If the golden boot comes, it is a bonus. If Grand Legacy win something for Murehwa, that is the real target.
