Lens found themselves in serious trouble early on, conceding twice within the opening 13 minutes against Toulouse. A mistake from goalkeeper Robin Risser allowed Cristian Casseres’ effort to slip through after six minutes, before Seny Koumbassa added a second with a header that went in off the crossbar shortly after.

Despite their ambitions of staying in the title race, Lens were suddenly chasing the game against opponents who had conceded seven goals across their previous two matches. The situation worsened quickly, leaving the home side needing a strong response.

Toulouse’s task became more difficult in the 17th minute when midfielder Yan Ghobo was sent off, reducing them to 10 men and giving Lens a numerical advantage for the remainder of the match.

Second-half dominance finally brings a reward

Lens took control after the break, applying sustained pressure against a Toulouse side that failed to register another shot on target for the rest of the game. However, despite dominating possession and territory, the breakthrough took time to arrive.

The first goal came in the 61st minute when Saud Abdulhamid headed in, a moment that shifted momentum and appeared to unsettle the visitors. Just six minutes later, Adrien Thomasson equalized, completing the comeback from two goals down.

With the scores level, Lens continued to push forward, sensing an opportunity to claim all three points and keep their title hopes alive.

Late winner narrows gap to PSG

The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time, as Ismaelo Ganiou scored in the 91st minute, sparking celebrations among the home supporters. The late strike sealed a 3-2 victory and completed a dramatic turnaround.

The result moved Lens to within one point of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, although PSG still have two matches in hand. Despite recent setbacks, including two consecutive defeats before this game, Lens remains in contention.

The win keeps alive their pursuit of a first Ligue 1 title since 1998, ensuring the race at the top continues as the season progresses.
