Katsande set for GreenFuel as Chimalizeni takes over at Grand Legacy

The Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League is about to get very personal.

With Grand Legacy Football Club announcing the appointment of Paul “Popopo” Chimalizeni as their new substantive head coach, Willard Katsande is on the verge of being unveiled as the new Green Fuel Football Club head coach.

Interestingly, Katsande’s first game in charge will be a visit to Murehwa.

Grand Legacy FC host Green Fuel FC in a Week 20 clash this Saturday at St Paul’s Musami Stadium.

A source who refused to be named told Fanzone that Katsande is currently in Chisumbanje waiting to be unveiled after the Ethanol Boys “relieved Arnold Jani of his duties having fallen down the pecking order in the championship race.”

Fanzone learnt a few days ago that Katsande was on the verge of rejoining Grand Legacy again after tendering his resignation and holding talks with club president Panganai Nyamayaro.

However, the talks stalled after Katsande reportedly set conditions to his return, with one of them being “the axing of Stephen Makatuka and a member of the technical bench.”

When those talks collapsed, sources close to Murehwa told Fanzone that Chimalizeni stepped up with his CV and “the Grand Legacy hierarchy was smitten with him.”

The source added that his CV, which included “winning promotion to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with Agama FC and his CAF A coaching badge,” completed the coup.

Now Chimalizeni is set to meet the very man he toppled on the table, with Katsande expected to be announced as the new Green Fuel boss.
