Katsande in talks for Grand Legacy return, 24 hours after quiting

Willard Katsande could be heading back to Grand Legacy, barely 24 hours after quiting the Murehwa-based outfit, amid revelations that he had after behind the scenes negotiations with club president Panganai Nyamayaro.

The former Warriors captain tendered his resignation yesterday and immediately flew to South Africa, fueling speculation that there was an opportunity for him there.

Sources at Grand Legacy revealed to Fanzone that discussions for a possible return are already “progressive”.

The initial fallout is understood to be about the working environment. Sources told Fanzone that Katsande had “some frosty relationship with the club executive”.

Another key issue was recruitment.

Despite the drama, Grand Legacy remain firmly in the championship race and are one of the dark horses in a title race that promises to go down to the wire.

And that is why Nyamayaro is said to be keen to bring him back.

For a return to happen, Katsande has tabled demands, chief among them “the culling of some of the technical personnel”.

The former Warriors skipper is said to have had a rift with one of his assistant coaches and “wants him gone before he comes back”.

Nyamayaro is reportedly open to the demands.

At the moment Katsande is out of the country and is set to take part in a legends match for South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.

It remains to be seen where this ends, but there is a strong possibility the May Coach of the Month could be back in Murehwa, with the executive still seeing him as “the right man for the job”.
