Heavyweight clashes set the tone as Castle Lager PSL week 22 beckons

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League enters Week 22 with the title race, top-four battle and relegation fight all finely poised. Leaders Scotland FC remain in control at the summit with 46 points from 21 matches, but several crucial fixtures this weekend could significantly reshape the standings.
Scottland FC vs TelOne FC
League leaders Scottland return to Rufaro looking to strengthen their seven-point advantage after extending their tally to 46 points. Having conceded just six goals all season, the log leaders will be overwhelming favourites against 15th-placed TelOne, who are desperate for points to move away from the relegation zone.
However, TelOne have shown resilience in recent weeks and will be hoping to frustrate the league’s best defence while pulling off what would be the biggest upset of the season. The match will be played at Rufaro stadium.
Simba Bhora FC vs Bulawayo Chiefs FC
At Wadzanayi stadium, eighth-placed Simba Bhora welcome Bulawayo Chiefs in a clash between two sides chasing a strong finish to the campaign. Simba will be looking to bounce back after dropping points last weekend, while Chiefs aim to close the gap on the top half after climbing to 11th.
Chicken Inn FC vs Manica Diamonds FC

Chicken Inn face struggling Manica Diamonds in a fixture carrying huge implications at the bottom of the table. The Gamecocks sit 12th on 24 points, while Manica are second from bottom with just 16 points despite ending their long winless run last weekend. Another victory could breathe new life into the Mutare side’s survival hopes. The match will be played at Luveve Stadium.
ZPC Kariba FC vs FC Hunters
Separated only by goal difference, 13th-placed ZPC Kariba and 14th-placed FC Hunters meet in what promises to be a tense relegation six-pointer at Nyamhunga stadium. Both sides have 20 points, making this arguably one of the weekend’s most significant fixtures in the battle to avoid the drop.
FC Platinum vs Highlanders FC
One of the standout matches of the weekend sees seventh-placed Highlanders travel to face 10th-placed FC Platinum. Highlanders remain within touching distance of the top four, while Platinum are unbeaten in several matches but have drawn too many games this season. Three points for either side would provide a massive boost to their ambitions when they meet at Mandava stadium.
CAPS United vs Ngezi Platinum Stars

A blockbuster encounter awaits at Rufaro stadium as fifth-placed CAPS United host third-placed Ngezi Platinum Stars. Only one point separates the two teams, with Ngezi on 36 points and CAPS on 35. Victory for Makepekepe could lift them into the top three depending on other results, while Ngezi will be eager to keep pace with the title contenders.
MWOS FC vs Dynamos FC
Dynamos continue their pursuit of the leading pack against ninth-placed MWOS FC at Ngoni stadium. DeMbare, who have a game in hand, climbed to sixth after a convincing win in their previous outing and know another victory could move them closer to the top four. MWOS have quietly enjoyed a solid campaign and will be aiming to upset one of the country’s traditional giants on home soil.
Herentals College FC vs Hardrock FC
The match of the weekend features fourth-placed Herentals against second-placed Hardrock FC at Rufaro stadium on Sunday. Hardrock sit on 39 points with a game in hand and know victory would keep the pressure firmly on Scotland at the top. Herentals, meanwhile, have accumulated 36 points and could leapfrog their opponents with a win. With both clubs firmly in the title conversation, this promises to be one of the defining matches of the season.
Agama FC vs Triangle United FC
The weekend concludes with a crucial basement battle. Sixteenth-placed Agama host bottom side Triangle United in a match where defeat could severely dent either team’s survival hopes. Agama hold a five-point advantage over Triangle and will see this as a golden opportunity to pull further clear of the foot of the table, while Triangle desperately need maximum points to keep their survival hopes alive.
Week 22 at a glance
The weekend offers everything from a title-defining showdown between Herentals and Hardrock, a top-four battle involving CAPS United and Ngezi Platinum Stars, to high-stakes relegation clashes featuring ZPC Kariba, FC Hunters, Agama and Triangle United.
With just over a third of the season remaining, every point is becoming increasingly valuable as the race for the championship, continental places and survival intensifies.
