Harare City coach Try Ncube has celebrated his latest promotion achievement after guiding the Sunshine Boys back into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, describing the Northern Region title race as a tough and competitive.

The former Highlanders coach secured City’s return to the country’s top flight courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Jumbo Giants at Callies Stadium.

City were in a nail-biting two-horse race with army side Black Rhinos, as both sides headed into the last game of the season with a chant to win it.

Ncube expressed his happiness at the achievement while acknowledging the competitiveness of the Northern Region Soccer League.

“We are more than happy to be crowned champions. It was not easy going, as the Northern Region is one of the toughest regions, and winning it on the last game of the season shows how competitive it was from day one,” said Ncube.

The former Bulawayo City coach also expressed gratitude to the club’s executive, players and supporters for their contribution throughout the campaign, particularly acknowledging the fans for their unwavering support, encouragement and belief in the team.

““This achievement belongs to everyone involved with the club. It was not just about the players and myself, but also the team owners, executive and supporters who stood with us from day one, through both the highs and lows of the season.”

The achievement adds another milestone to Ncube’s coaching career. He previously guided Bulawayo City to the Southern Region Soccer League championship in 2019, securing promotion to the top flight.

Seven years later, he has repeated the feat with Harare City, this time conquering the Northern Region and securing the club’s place in the 2027 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

Ncube has once again delivered promotion success, with Harare City now preparing for a return to the elite league.
