Grand Legacy’s wall: Danny Tagara’s clean sheet run has Musami dreaming big

Danny Tagara is building a fortress at St Paul’s Musami Stadium, and Grand Legacy FC are reaping the rewards.
The Grand Legacy FC goalkeeper has gone four games without conceding, stretching his season tally to six clean sheets.
That puts him just one behind league leader Lennon Gonese of Yadah FC in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League.
After 10 games, Grand Legacy sit 5th on the log with 19 points from 6 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses. They’ve scored 17 and conceded just 5, giving them a +12 goal difference that’s second only to Yadah and Africa Mineral Ventures.
Twelve weeks into the campaign, their defensive record is one of the best in the region.
At home, that record is even tighter. Grand Legacy remain unbeaten at Musami after 5 matches, with 5 wins and not a single goal conceded. Opposing teams have left St Paul’s frustrated, unable to break down a backline that has become the envy of the league.
Tagara’s resurgence is one of the stories of the season.
He joined Grand Legacy early this year after a difficult exit from PSL newcomers Agama FC, where he was reportedly dismissed via a text message by goalkeepers coach Witness Munkuli.
At Grand Legacy, he’s found stability and trust. “Hard work and teamwork has been the mainstay of my career so far at Grand Legacy,” Tagara told Fanzone in an exclusive interview. “I am enjoying my life at Grand Legacy and we are taking it one game at a time.”
The arrival of Willard Katsande has been a turning point for the club.
The former Warriors and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has brought structure and belief, and Grand Legacy now look like genuine dark horses for the Pacific Storm title. With 19 points from 10 games, they sit just 4 points off 3rd place and 5 off the summit.
For Tagara, learning from Katsande has been invaluable. “The coming in of Willard Katsande who played at the highest level has been a privilege to us. He is an inspiration on his own and I am greatly learning from the former midfield hardman who is quickly becoming a household name in Murehwa,” he said.
At the back, Tagara has been shielded by experience. Veteran defender Stephen Makatuka has partnered Takudzwa Kwangwa and Brilliant Sixpence in a backline that is yet to be breached at home. “I also credit veteran defender Stephen Makatuka for his vast experience. We have steadied the ship at the back,” Tagara added.
With Katsande steadying the midfield and Makatuka organizing the defense, Grand Legacy’s structure is clear. Tagara is the last line of a unit that thrives on discipline and communication.
Four games, four clean sheets, zero goals conceded at Musami. Five home games, five wins. From 5th on the log with the league’s stingiest defense, Grand Legacy are proving they belong in the title conversation.
If they keep this up, Musami might not just be a tough place to visit. It could be the foundation of a championship run.
