FC Hunters president Andrew Gore’s attempt to address salary and bonus queries yesterday ended in disaster, with players receiving a paltry $65 each.
The players were owed their salaries and winning bonuses that dated back to September 2025.
Fanzone has in possession a circular sent to the players and technical staff late last night announcing the meeting promising to address salary and bonus queries and celebrate the championship win, but it seems like just a PR stunt.
”All players are invited to our offices on Monday, 9 February 2026 at 8:00 AM.
”This meeting aims to address salary and bonus queries, and celebrate our championship win.
”For more information, please contact our Secretary General, Chairman, Vice Chairman, or Club Director.
”The club thanks everyone who contributed to its success. Clearance letters have been issued to those who wish to join other clubs, and we’re urging those interested to take this opportunity.
”Those who will be committed to other duties on this day advise us in time,” read the circular.
The meeting, held at Gore’s Marondera farm, was meant to celebrate the team’s Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League championship win, but instead sparked outrage.
Fanzone understands that the $65 is only for a month, with the rest including winning bonuses and championship bonuses set to be paid at a later date.
”I’m speechless, it’s an insult,” one player told Fanzone. “I’ve spent Christmas without anything, my children aren’t in school. What does $65 mean to me?”
”He’s laughing at us. Imagine we have been stranded here since 8 am and we get $65,” another player fumed. “We win the league, and this is what we get? It’s a joke.”
Gore reportedly said he “only pays when the season ends” and bonuses would be paid after reviewing performances.
Coaches were turned away, told it was a “players indaba only”.
Gore accumulated a 10% commission from the FC Hunters-N’ombeeya partnership, sparking questions about priorities.
”He’s not serious about football, he’s just using us,” one player said. “We deserve better than this,” added another player.
The players are left wondering what’s next, and whether they’ll ever see their rightful dues.
FC Hunters after their merger with N’ombeyaora will be playing in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League which kicks off in March.
