Derby days kick off 2026 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season

‎The 2026 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season is set to ignite with two mouthwatering derbies, promising an electrifying start to the campaign.

Masvingo United FC, last season’s third-place finishers, host Great Zimbabwe University FC in a Masvingo derby that’s sure to send shockwaves through the province.

‎Una Una, as Masvingo United FC are affectionately known, might be favourites on paper, but they’ve lost key players, including goalkeeper Tristan Chibwana and coach Tonganai Mugeji, who moved to Bikita Minerals.

Great Zimbabwe University, on the other hand, is missing talisman Shawn Mupesa, who joined the Northern Region Soccer League.

‎Meanwhile, Manica Diamonds U19 FC welcome new boys Africa Minerals Ventures FC, a team that’s splashed the cash, signing stars like Devon Chafa, Liberty Chakoroma, Nobert Zingo, Adam Tende, Ashford Nyamajiwa, amongst others.

The Gem Boys, known for their enterprising football, will be looking to start strong under coach Hibron Makukutu and former Dynamos winger Benjamin “Cosafa” Marere.

‎Other exciting matchups include Bikita Minerals FC hosting Buffaloes FC, a clash between returnees and a sleeping giant, and Tenax CS FC taking on Yadah FC.

Chauya Chikara, as Tenax CS FC are monikered, have been the most consistent teams in the league, finishing in the top three for the past four seasons.

They will be looking to build on this momentum and make a strong push for the Premier Soccer League ticket.

Yadah FC will also want to make a quick return to the Premier League, and this fixture should be the perfect springboard to do so.

‎Green Fuel FC will open their campaign with a fixture against new boys Murehwa based Grand Legacy FC.

Not much is known about Grand Legacy FC but on paper Boys dze Nharo would want to make a statement win and make a quick return to the Premier Soccer League by the end of the season.

‎Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League administrator Fungai Munyoro-Chingaira is buzzing with excitement: “The upcoming season promises to be competitive, with strong participation expected and continued growth in professionalism across the league.”

‎Munyoro-Chingaira urged clubs, stakeholders, and fans to rally behind their teams: “We’re looking forward to a vibrant and successful 2026 season.”

‎Week 1 Fixtures:

‎Bikita Minerals FC vs Buffaloes FC
