In a shocking turn of events, Africa Minerals Ventures Football Club is reeling from the sudden exit of head coach Shadreck “Father” Mugurasave, just 11 days into his tenure.
Mugurasave tendered his resignation letter to club Chief Executive Officer Nyasha Kadenge five days ago.
Sources close to the club reveal a toxic fallout with CEO Nyasha Kadenge over assistant coach appointments, sparking a full-blown power struggle that is threatening to derail their Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League debut.
Mugurasave, who had handpicked Prince “Skeelo” Tafirenyika as his assistant, was blindsided by Kadenge’s decision to appoint Clifton Kadurira, a former Ngezi Platinum Stars FC head coach, as an assistant coach.
The move, seen as a power play by Kadenge, sparked tensions between the coach and management.
Mugurasave categorically stated in his resignation letter addressed to Kadenge that coaches select their own backroom staff, not the other way round.
Tafirenyika has also reportedly left the club, leaving players and staff stunned.
The power struggle has sent shockwaves through the club, with Chairman Godfrey Mufuranhewe rumored to be on shaky ground.
Sources claim internal factions are targeting his removal, further destabilizing the club.
One player close to the club revealed to Fanzone: “We’re facing uncertain next few days. The coach who brought us here is gone, and Kadurira’s in charge. We might be next.”
Kadurira, a Kadenge ally from Ngezi Platinum Stars, is seen as the new power broker at AMV FC.
Insiders claim Kadenge is placing trusted associates in key positions, sparking concerns about favoritism.
With Mugurasave’s exit, AMV FC’s Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League debut campaign has started in quicksand and it remains to be seen where they head from here.
