Bumper weekend awaits as PSERSL Matchday 19 coincides with Munhumutapa Cup action

The Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League begins its 19th week of competition today in Mutare, with a schedule that runs alongside the ZIFA Munhumutapa Challenge Cup Preliminary Round.

In support of national competition, the league has postponed the Week 19 fixtures of four PSERSL clubs to allow them to represent the region in the prestigious cup tournament.

A total of seven teams will carry the Eastern Region banner in the Preliminary Round, comprising four from the PSERSL and three from the ZIFA Mashonaland East Division 2.

Tomorrow, Deportivo La Murambinda FC travel to face Kwekwe United at Bagdad Stadium in Kwekwe, Destiny Stars FC are away to Jordan FC at White City Stadium in Bulawayo, Chatidhege FC make the trip to Hwange to play Cheetahs FC at Chakona Stadium, while Lowveld Football Development Academy host Black Rock FC at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo.

On Sunday, Buffaloes FC welcome Blanket Mine FC to Mutare Showgrounds, Green Fuel FC are away to Hwange FC at Hwange Stadium, and Rusape City FC host FC Oden at Vengere Stadium in Rusape.

Despite the cup commitments, Matchday 19 of the PSERSL continues.

Action begins today, with Mutare City Rovers FC hosting Manica Diamonds U19 FC at Chisamba Stadium at 15:00.

On Saturday, Africa Mineral Ventures FC take on Four Lions FC at Vengere Stadium, Great Zimbabwe University FC host Bikita Chida Athletic Club at Gaths Mine, and Grand Legacy FC face Masvingo United FC at Musami, all at 15:00.

Sunday’s league program features FC Wangu Mazodze against Bikita Minerals FC at Mucheke Stadium and Chivhu FC versus Renco Mine FC at Garwe Stadium, both scheduled for 15:00.

The league fixtures involving Buffaloes FC, Destiny Stars FC, and GreenFuel FC have been postponed due to their cup participation, while Deportivo La Murambinda FC are on bye.

Speaking to Fanzone ahead of the weekend, Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League Regional Administrator Fungai Munyoro-Chingaira extended best wishes to all Eastern representatives.

This weekend represents more than just fixtures.

From the Division 2 grounds to the Showgrounds of Mutare, the football community is united in purpose as the region seeks to make its mark on both the league and national cup stage.
