BREAKING: National Sports Stadium set for PSL return

The iconic National Sports Stadium is set to return to hosting Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches after years of closure for renovations, according to a leaked circular circulating on social media.
The document, which bears the signature of PSL Competitions Manager Elisha Mandireva, lists the Week 14 clash between Caps United FC and FC Platinum as one of the fixtures scheduled for Monday 25th May 2026.
The leaked schedule also includes other Week 14 fixtures.
On Saturday 23rd May 2026, Herentals College FC take on Simba Bhora FC at Rufaro Stadium, Agama FC face ZPC Kariba FC at Wadzanayi Stadium, Ngezi Platinum Stars FC meet Bulawayo Chiefs FC at Baobab Stadium, FC Hunters play TelOne FC at Heart Stadium, and Chicken Inn FC host Scottland FC at Barbourfields Stadium.
On Sunday 24th May 2026, Hardrock FC are set to clash with Dynamos FC at Chahwanda Stadium, Manica Diamonds FC take on Highlanders FC at Sakubva Stadium, and Triangle United FC face MWOS FC at Gibbo Stadium.
Despite the circulation of the document, Premier Soccer League Media and Liaison Officer Kudzai Bare told Fanzone that the league is yet to confirm the development.
The National Sports Stadium has been closed to PSL football for several years due to renovations to meet CAF and FIFA standards.
Over the past few months works have been done with bucket seats and the turf already finished.
Its return would be a major boost for Zimbabwean football, giving the league access to its largest venue again.
For now, the PSL maintains that no official confirmation has been made regarding the venue for the Caps United vs FC Platinum fixture or the reopening of the National Sports Stadium.
