The dugout at Deportivo La Murambinda is empty. Fanzone can reveal that the club has suspended its entire technical team led by head coach Lovemore Dzoro and his assistant Prince Tafirenyika, following Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Great Zimbabwe University FC at Gaths Mine Stadium.
The decision comes after weeks of pressure. A high-placed source within the club confirmed that Dzoro and Tafirenyika were slapped with a two-match winning ultimatum by the executive after their Week 2 defeat to Yadah FC.
They responded with a 1-0 Week 3 home win over Grand Legacy FC at Uhera Stadium, buying themselves a lifeline. But Sunday’s draw with GZU was the last straw.
The source told Fanzone that the duo were served with suspension notices on Monday morning. Preparations for this weekend’s Week 5 fixture away to Chivhu FC are now being overseen by the team manager.
It is understood that the suspension covers two matches, leaving La Murambinda to navigate a tricky period without their head coach and his assistant in the dugout.
The timing is brutal. La Murambinda sit on seven points from their opening four games – two wins, one draw, one loss. Not a crisis on paper, but clearly below the executive’s expectations for a club with promotion ambitions.
The question now: Is this a panic move or a calculated shock to the system ?Dzoro and Tafirenyika have been walking a tightrope since that Yadah defeat.
They earned a stay of execution by beating Grand Legacy, but the GZU draw sealed their temporary fate. Suspending your entire technical team four games into a season sends a loud message – the executive wants results, not excuses.
For the players, the next two games become an audition. For Dzoro and Tafirenyika, it’s a nervous wait in the stands. For La Murambinda fans, it’s déjà vu – another Eastern Region club hitting the panic button early.
Can the Feruka Boys keep their momentum without the men in tracksuits calling the shots? Week 5 against Chivhu FC will give us the first answer. Fanzone will keep you posted.
