AmaZulu FC release midfielder Mason Mushore

South African side AmaZulu FC has confirmed the release of midfielder Mason Mushore along with five other players as preparations for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership sesson gather momentum.
Mushore joined the South African club in January 2026 on a two-and-a-half-year contract from Highlanders FC. However, things did not go as planned for the promising midfielder as ge was reduced to training sessions only.
Since January, Mushore has been frozen out while Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya enjoyed game time before being injured in March.
Talks between AmaZulu FC and Mushore’s representatives, Focus Sports Management, over a contract termination had been ongoing, with a loan move also on the table.
The Betway Premiership side has now confirmed the midfielder’s departure as they regroup ahead of the 2026/27 season. Mushore, still had two years remaining on his contract and the parties have agreed to cut ties.
Focus Sports Management had earlier written to AmaZulu seeking clarity on whether Mushore was still in coach Arthur Zwane’s plans after he was frozen out. Club management acknowledged the game-time challenge but said the final decision rested with the coach.

MUSHORE RELEASED ALONGSIDE FIVE OTHER PLAYERS

Fanzone understands Mushore has been flirting with Highlanders FC and a move back to Bosso is now likely. A product of the famed Highlanders’ ‘Bosso 90’ developmental structures, Mushore broke into the PSL in 2022.
He quickly established himself as one of the most composed defensive screens in Zimbabwe’s top flight before moving to South Africa.
Mushore’s journey to the Betway Premiership was hailed as steady progression through the ranks of Zimbabwean football, but his stint at the Durban club ends after just six months.
