Midfielder Mason Mushore could be on his way back to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League as his future at AmaZulu FC looks bleak.

Mushore joined the South African club in January on a two-and-a-half-year contract from Highlanders FC. However, after arriving amid so much anticipation, things did not go as planned and he was reduced to training sessions only.

Mushore struggled for recognition and game time, leaving him frustrated since arrival in Durban. Since January, the 23-year-old has been frozen out, while Thandokwenkosi Ngwenya enjoyed game time before being injured in March.

The Betway Premiership club and Mushore’s representatives, Focus Sports Management, are currently negotiating a contract termination. A loan move is also still possible.

AmaZulu FC have already regrouped ahead of the 2026/27 season, but Mushore. remains at his base in Bulawayo. Fanzone understands Mushore has been training with Highlanders FC and a move back to the club is possible, as the window is open until 31 July.

Mushore’s representatives have already written to AmaZulu FC requesting clarity on whether the club still has him in their plans under coach Arthur Zwane.

The AmaZulu FC management is said to have acknowledged the challenge Mushore faced since arrival, but said the coach has the final decision on who he prefers.

A product of the famed Highlanders’ “Bosso 90” developmental structures, Mushore broke into the PSL in 2022. Mushore’s journey to the Betway Premiership was hailed as steady progression through the ranks of Zimbabwean football.
