For the first time since it opened for PSL matches in March, ZIFA has conducted an official inspection of the state-of-the-art Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe.

Led by ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi, the delegation included Vice-president Loveness Mukura, board member Brighton Ushendibaba, and Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League Chairperson Chido Chizondo.

The visit follows an earlier inspection in February by CAF Stadium Inspector Aloys Mpambara, who assessed the facility against international compliance standards. Chahwanda Stadium is still undergoing final touches ahead of a full CAF inspection.

Speaking after the tour, Magwizi was full of praise for the venue’s progress and revealed ZIFA is considering Chahwanda as a host stadium for a planned Four Nations Tournament.

“The work which has been done here is phenomenal. It speaks to black excellence. This is a masterpiece. Mr. Chahwanda saw the need in Kwekwe. He saw that our people need somewhere to play football, and he answered the call.

“The capacity in terms of accommodating athletes will be in camp here. So we can only grow stronger as a footballing nation in Zimbabwe. We need to bring more tournaments to Kwekwe.

Magwizi added: “There is a possibility we can convince our colleagues so that we can have the Four Nations Tournament in Zimbabwe. If we have it in Zimbabwe, definitely this is a viable venue.”

“If we get that homologation out of the way… then even our qualifiers could be here. We brought CAF here in February, they left a report, and we are going to invite them again.

“We are grateful for the sacrifice you have put into football and the investment you have put in. We are humbled by your commitment.”
