Zebra Revolution fight back to beat Victoria Falls Herentals

Zebra Revolution produced a spirited second-half comeback to edge Victoria Falls Herentals 3-2 in a goal-filled thriller at Bulawayo Chiefs Village yesterday, moving clear of the Pacific Breeze Southern Region Division One relegation zone.
The AmaDubeAmahle found themselves trailing early in the second half when Vic Falls Herentals drew first blood. A first minutes of the second half strike gave the visitors confidence of causing an upset.
Herentals looked organised and disciplined at both ends, frustrating Zebra with compact defending while also showing flashes of danger on the counter-attack. Their goal rewarded a bright start and left Zebra with plenty of work to do.
But the youthful Zebra Revolution showed character and pulled level through Innocent Mhlanga to make it 1-1.
Coach Mtewa Masiku ’s boys returned with renewed energy and intensity, pinning Victoria Falls Herentals deep inside their own half as they searched for another win.
Their persistence paid off when captain Stephen Zinaka, aka “Voller”, fired home with a well-taken effort. The goal breathed life into the Zebra camp and shifted momentum firmly in their favour.
However, Zebra were caught napping at the back and Vic Falls Herentals restored parity, beating a Zebra goalkeeper who looked off his game, to make it 2-2.
With pressure mounting at both ends, the Sizinda boys wanted it more. They continued to attack and were rewarded again when Trust Ndlovu netted the winner to complete a dramatic turnaround and send the home supporters into celebration.
The victory sees Zebra Revolution, who had a poor start to the season, escape the danger zone.
Speaking after the match, coach Mtewa praised his players for resilience and character after going behind.
“I am happy for the team. We had to win today,it was a must. We had gone four games without a win, so this was important. This win is a motivating factor for us as we face in-form Bosso 90. They went to Hwange and beat Black Rock, so it’s going to be tough. But I expect my boys to produce the same performance as today. To the Zebra Revolution fans, keep supporting us we will get there,” said Mtewa.
Zebra Revolution is a home that has produced stars such as Highlanders’ sold defender Tawanda Shenje and skilful midfielder Mongameli Tshuma.
