‘We are not looking at Scottland’ says Kelvin Kaindu

Kelvin Kaindu has adopted a peculiar stance in the PSL title race, insisting he is not looking at log leaders Scottland FC despite the two sides being neck-and-neck at the summit.

The 2026 Castle Lager PSL title race has reached a crescendo, with Scottland leading the way on 53 points and a game in hand, while second-placed Hardrock, sit on 51 points after 26 matches.

The Munhumutapa Challenge Cup will provide a brief detour, but with eight games left in the league, the 2026 champions will be determined soon.

At this stage, any slip-up could prove costly for the two favourites, as well as third-placed Dynamos who are still hoping on 45 points and a game in hand.

Kaindu knows the season has entered a delicate phase, one that could decide whether he remains at the ambitious Kwekwe-based side next season.

Furthermore, the fixture list is set to get congested, with the 2026 Chibuku Super Cup preliminaries starting on Wednesday in preliminaries, while the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup kicks off on August 7 in the Round of 32.

‘WE ARE FOCUSING ON OUR PLAY’ SAYS KAINDU

For Scottland, it gets trickier with a 2026/27 CAF Champions League campaign also on their cards. But Kaindu insists he is not looking into how Scottland is moving.

“We are not looking at how Scottland are playing, we are focusing on our play, but if they are dropping points it gives us a bit of an advantage. They had opened up a huge gap at the top, but it puts a bit of pressure on them, they still have a game in hand,” Kaindu said on Sunday after Hardrock beat Manica Diamonds.

“We do not want to compare ourselves to Scottland; we are a team that is coming from Division One, and our objective was to stay in the league; we are quite certain to do so.”

Meanwhile Hardrock face a tough task on Saturday, when they face Kwekwe United in a Kwekwe derby that promises to serve up mouthwatering action.
