Kaindu unfazed by Hardrock’s record vs ‘big guns’: “League is about consistency

Hardrock FC head coach Kelvin Kaindu says he is not losing sleep over his side’s failure to collect maximum points against the league’s so-called “big guns”, insisting that the title race will be decided by consistency.
Speaking after their thrilling 3-3 draw with CAPS United at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday, Kaindu was relaxed when asked about the potential implications of not winning against the league’s big teams.
In two legs against CAPS United, Hardrock collected just one point, having lost 2-0 in the first league match at Rufaro Stadium. They also lost their first league fixture against Highlanders at home, courtesy of a Reason Sibanda strike.
Against Dynamos FC, the first leg was abandoned after crowd trouble and will now be decided on Thursday at Baobab Stadium behind closed doors. At the time of abandonment, the teams were deadlocked at 1-1. How the remaining minutes of the tie will pan out remains to be seen.
Kaindu will also hope to get the better of Dynamos FC and Highlanders FC when they travel to Rufaro stadium and Barbourfields stadium for what will be gruelling away fixtures for the Kasongo Golden Boys.
More pertinently, Kaindu’s men dropped points against log leaders Scottland FC, who they are chasing for the title. They drew 0-0 in the first match at home before losing 2-0 at Rufaro Stadium.
‘WE CANNOT CRY’ SAYS KELVIN KAINDU

However, Kaindu remains optimistic and unfazed by how his team has fared against the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League big guns: CAPS United, Dynamos and Highlanders.
“The only thing that we need is to keep on winning. The league is not about beating theses teams. Yes, those games are big and everyone wants to win them.
“But at the end of the day, three points is three points whether you get it against the team above you or against any other team. If we are able to get points from other teams, it’s good for us. That’s how you stay in the race,” Kaindu said.
Hardrock sit in second position on the PSL table with 39 points, seven behind Scottland FC who lead after 21 rounds of fixtures.
“That is why we are in the second position. As much as we want to get a positive result against these big name teams, we were almost getting it but we dropped points. It’s disappointing because we worked hard.
“But we cannot cry, the league is long. If we can pick points from other teams, it’s also good for us. We just have to make sure we don’t drop unnecessary points going forward.”
Hardrock face Herentals College FC in their upcoming fixture on Sunday at Rufaro Stadium, with hopes of bouncing back to winning ways.
