TelOne striker Washington Navaya has been named the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Soccer Star of the Year, capping a remarkable season in which he also secured the Golden Boot.
Navaya finished the campaign as top scorer with 17 goals, a tally that underscored his consistency and lethal finishing across the season.
Following Navaya in the honours list were Kevin Moyo of Scottland FC and Emmanuel Ziocha of Simba Bhora, who took first and second runner-up positions respectively.
Other notable award winners included William Thole as Goalkeeper of the Year, while young talent Mafious Chihweta was named Most Promising Player. The Coach of the Year accolade went to Tonderai Ndiraya, whose leadership helped steer Scottland FC to the league title.
Navaya’s rise to national recognition comes as a surprise to many. Few had tipped him for such honours at the start of the season, but the TelOne forward’s relentless goal scoring, sharp movement and clutch performances changed opinions — and results.
In a season where defences were generally well organised and scoring was hard earned, Navaya stood out for his clinical edge and resilience. His Golden Boot tally and overall impact make him a deserving winner of Soccer Star of the Year. As domestic football looks ahead to 2026, his form offers a strong benchmark for strikers across the league.
