Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has showered the Chevrons with praise following their impressive victory over Australia at the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka yesterday.
Zimbabwe produced an impressive display with both bat and ball to register a memorable 23-run victory over the Aussies.
Justin Sammons’ troops batted first and set Australia a target of 170, with Brian Bennet scoring 64 off 56 deliveries, before bowling the Aussies out for 146.
Tendulkar took to microblogging site X, formerly Twitter to heap praise on the Chevrons and seamer Blessing Muzarabani, who registered career best figures of 4-17.
“A statement win from Zimbabwe!,” wrote Tendulkar.
“Beating Australia by 23 runs takes real character. And of course, Blessing turned out to be just that, a blessing in the truest sense, with a superb 4 wicket spell.
“What an exciting tournament this is shaping up to be!”
