Red-hot Renco record sixth straight win

Renco Mine FC continued their fine run as they recorded a sixth consecutive win yesterday, brushing aside Bikita Chida Athletic Club 2-0 at Lithium Stadium to close out Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League Week 25.
It was business as usual up front. Michael Chingarande struck first on 24 minutes, latching onto a quick move to break the deadlock. Three minutes before halftime Artwell Magwaza doubled the advantage, and that proved enough as Renco saw the game out.
But there was a familiar face missing from the dugout. Former head coach Lovemore Dzoro was not in charge. The reigning Coach of the Month has since returned to Deportivo La Murambinda FC.
In his place, Renco are set to announce former Highlanders defender Ackim Gwaendepi as their new substantive head coach with 12 games left.
Gwaendepi joins straight from Mutare City Rovers where he was assistant. Talk about timing, he was actually on the bench yesterday in his final game for Rovers, the 1-0 loss to Deportivo La Murambinda in Lovemore Dzoro’s return.
The result takes Renco Mine to 41 points in 7th place, just two behind sixth-placed Grand Legacy FC who lost 3-2 to Buffaloes in Mutare yesterday. More importantly, it cements their tag as the form team in the East with the run-in approaching.
At the top, Yadah FC still lead on 52 points, five clear of joint second Green Fuel FC and Deportivo La Murambinda who both sit on 47.
