Scottland are reportedly turning to former Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu to take charge of the team on an interim basis following the sacking of Norman Mapeza, as Mabviravira move to restore stability after a disappointing end to their CAF Champions League campaign.

Mapeza was sacked last night after the defending league champions were knocked out of the CAF Champions League following a 3-0 second leg defeat to Angolan giants Petro de Luanda, having carried a somewhat healthy 2-0 advantage.

A meeting held by the Scottland hierarchy after the team’s arrival yesterday saw Mapeza being shown the exit door with immediate effect.

A source privy to ongoings at Scottland told Fanzone that Ndlovu – who served as team manager, will take charge of the team for the remainder of the 2026 campaign , while a substantive coach will be recruited ahead of next season.

“As you know, Norman Mapeza was sacked last night, it’s now in the public domain. The position is that Peter Ndlovu will take over on a temporary basis until the end of the season,” said the source.

“It was a tense meeting, in which some members of the club’s leadership suggested that Mapeza be allowed to finish the season while others insisted he be sacked immediately. “

In the end, he (Mapeza) was sacked.” Ndlovu’s immediate task would be overseeing Scottland’s title defence. They take on CAPS United at Rufaro on Thursday, knowing that any further slip-up would probably result in Hardrock winning the title.

The Kasongo Boys opened an eight-point gap at the summit of the table following their come from behind 3-2 victory over MWOS at Chahwanda Stadium yesterday.
