The Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League has announced that the previously proposed Season Opener Cup, which was set to feature Bikita Minerals FC and Tenax CS FC, will no longer take place.
According to a communication sent to the clubs by Fungai Munyoro-Chingaira, the Regional Administrator of the Pacific Storm bankrolled league – a copy of which Fanzone is in possession of – the event has been scrapped to pave way for a Season Opening Cocktail Event.
In the statement, Fungai Munyoro-Chingaira said: “The Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League wishes to advise all affiliated clubs that the previously proposed Season Opener Cup will no longer take place as earlier communicated. Instead the league will host a Season Opening Cocktail Event at the end of the month. The event will bring together club representatives and league stakeholders as we prepare for the upcoming soccer season. Each club will be required to send representatives to this event. Further details regarding the date, venue and program will be communicated in due course. Your cooperation and continue support of league activities is greatly appreciated.”
Last season the cup virtually announced the coming on board of Pacific Storm as sponsors of the Eastern Region Soccer League, which had been running without a sponsor since its formation at the turn of the millennium.
Tenax CS FC were the defending champions, having won the inaugural cup last year after beating FC Wangu Mazodze at Mucheke Stadium.
