The story of the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League is tightening with every matchday.

Fanzone takes a brief dive into what has been happening these past few weeks in the Eastern Region.

Week 13, played between 5 and 7 of June, set the tone.

Destiny Stars FC edged Four Lions 2-1, Great Zimbabwe University FC nicked Chivhu 1-0, and Mutare City Rovers upset Grand Legacy 1-0 away.

Bikita Minerals FC outlasted Bikita Chida 2-1, Renco Mine FC silenced Buffaloes 1-0, while Masvingo United FC thumped Power FC 3-1.

Tenax Correctional Services FC squeezed past Wangu Mazodze 2-1.

Yadah FC’s clash with Africa Mineral Ventures and Deportivo La Murambinda vs Green Fuel were both postponed, leaving the league leaders with games in hand and a threat hanging over the chasing pack.

That threat became crystal clear in the Week 13 log.

Yadah FC sat top with 27 points from 11 games, unbeaten on 8 wins and 3 draws, with a +11 goal difference.

But Tenax CS FC were right behind on 25 points from 13 games.

The gap was just 2 points, and Yadah knew a win would extend their points tally, but they slipped up as they were held to a 1 all draw away at Four Lions FC.

Deportivo La Murambinda were third on 24 points, with Africa Mineral Ventures, Grand Legacy and Greenfuel all locked on 22 points. The margins were already razor-thin.

Week 14’s midweek action shifted the landscape again.

FC Wangu Mazodze turned on the heat at Garwe with a clinical 3-0 win over Chivhu FC.

At Mucheke, emotions ran high as Tonganai Mugeji faced his former side Masvingo United FC, but Shawn Mutongi’s 33rd-minute opener for Bikita Minerals was cancelled by Hillary Bakacheza’s penalty in the 45th minute in a fiery 1-1 draw.

Red card drama at Chisamba saw Destiny Stars play over an hour with ten men yet holding Manica Diamonds U19 FC to a 0-0 draw.

Another goalless stalemate followed at Lithium Stadium between Bikita Chida Athletic Club and Buffaloes FC.

The latest log after Week 14 tells a familiar story, just with the pressure dialed up.

Yadah FC remain top on 28 points from 12 games, still unbeaten and still holding a game in hand.

Their +11 goal difference keeps them ahead of Tenax CS FC, who climbed to 28 points from 14 games but sit second on +8 goal difference.

Grand Legacy jumped to third on 25 points, with Greenfuel fourth on 25 points and Deportivo La Murambinda slipped fifth on 24 points.

Masvingo United and Bikita Minerals both have 22 points, keeping them in the hunt.

The title race is effectively a two-horse sprint for now, and Yadah’s game in hand is the ace they cannot waste.

What’s at stake now is everything. Yadah know one slip and Tenax will snatch the summit on points.

Tenax know they must keep winning and hope Yadah stumble like they did last week, because goal difference alone will not save the leaders forever.

Below them, Grand Legacy, Greenfuel and Deportivo are all within touching distance of the top two, while Masvingo United and Bikita Minerals are lurking, ready to pounce if the frontrunners blink.

For the teams at the bottom like Chivhu FC and Power FC, every point is survival.

The drama roars back tomorrow. Week 15 kicks off on Saturday 13 June with two fixtures: Great Zimbabwe University FC host Africa Mineral Ventures FC at Gaths Mine at 15:00, while Grand Legacy FC take on Four Lions FC at Musami, also at 15:00.

Then Sunday 14 June brings the main event. League leaders Yadah FC face Manica Diamonds U19 FC at Heart at 15:00 in a game they must win to keep their game-in-hand advantage meaningful.

Tenax CS FC travel to Power FC at Gaths Mine at 15:00, a fixture where dropped points could blow the race wide open.

Elsewhere, Destiny Stars host Renco Mine at Chisamba, Bikita Minerals clash with Greenfuel at Lithium, and Wangu Mazodze welcome a wounded Deportivo La Murambinda to Mucheke.

Now, with the Miracle Boys holding the summit by goal difference and Tenax chasing hard, Week 15 is where the title race starts to take shape.

Tomorrow the first whistle blows. By Sunday night, the log could look very different.
