NEW HOME: Knox Mutizwa set for Venda FC move in SA

Zimbabwean striker Knox Mutizwa is set to sign for Motsepe Foundation Championship club Venda FC in South Africa.

According to South African publication FARPost, the 32-year-old arrived in Limpopo on Saturday and watched Venda FC’s 1-0 defeat to Gomora United at Malamulele Stadium.

He is said to have started training with the club on Monday and has already impressed coach Clinton Larsen and his technical team.

Mutizwa has been a free agent since being released by Betway Premiership outfit Richards Bay FC last season. He returned home and reportedly tried to join Highlanders and Triangle United, but both moves failed.

The Golden Arrows all-time top goalscorer will join Venda as a free agent after spending one season with the Natal Rich Boys. He joined Richards Bay from Arrows, where he made his name.

KNOX MUTIZWA SET FOR REUNION WITH COACH CLINTON LARSEN

He will also reunite with coach Larsen, who was in charge at Arrows from 2016 to 2018, Mutizwa’s most productive period in South Africa.

Mutizwa was spotted by FARPost at Home Affairs offices in Polokwane finalizing his work permit ahead of the transfer. He was escorted by a Venda FC official.

Meanwhile, Venda FC will host University of Pretoria at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday, September 5. It is unclear if Mutizwa’s paperwork will be ready in time for the match.

The club currently sit 11th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after earning one point from two games. Coach Larsen has made it clear that Venda are targeting automatic promotion this season.
