Munashe Mudowaya has made a bold move, ditching Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League champions FC Hunters for ambitious side Deportivo La Murambinda.
The 23-year-old forward is excited about this new chapter in his career, having won a championship medal with FC Hunters last year.
”I am happy to make the switch to Murambinda, and I am ready for the next chapter of my life,” Mudowaya told Fanzone. “I want to thank the FC Hunters family for their support during my stay at Rudhaka Stadium. It was a dream come true to win a championship medal with them.”
However, Mudowaya’s exit from FC Hunters hasn’t been smooth sailing.
An anonymous source revealed that Mudowaya and several other players had to involve the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) to force the termination of their contracts.
Apparently, FC Hunters president Andrew Gore is refusing to give clearances to players who want to leave.
One player, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that Gore blocked his own move to La Murambinda, labeling him a “black sheep” who engages organizations like FUZ. “He (Gore) told La Murambinda executive that I was a liability, saying ‘signing me would be a problem’. All I needed was my clearance, but Gore is making things hard and complicated,” the player said.
Efforts to get a comment from Andrew Gore were fruitless as his mobile phone was not reachable.
Mudowaya’s footballing journey began at Hatcliffe-based Division 2 side Bodrodale FC.
He joined FC Hunters in 2024 from Buffaloes and played a key role in their campaign, initially finishing fourth in the 2024 season under Patrick Sithole who used a 352 formation, converting Mudowaya from a winger to a wingback.
He scored 5 goals and assisted 9 goals that season, forming a lethal partnership with Tawanda Chatuluka.
The 2025 championship-winning campaign was challenging for Mudowaya, with limited game time under Clifford Dzvairo. “The previous campaign was challenging for me, but I hope this season will bring me great fortunes,” he said.
To his new fans at La Murambinda, Mudowaya promised to give his all and help the team fight for honors in the 2026 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season. “I promise to give my best and make a positive impact on the team,” added Mudowaya.
