Motaung on Musona and Billiat: ‘They are still the best’

Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat celebrating

Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung watched from the stands on Sunday as Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat dazzled at Rufaro Stadium against Hardrock FC, delivering a performance that sent another strong message in Scottland FC’s 2026 campaign.

Both former Kaizer Chiefs players, Musona and Billiat have forged an indomitable partnership at Scottland that has left opponents struggling to contain them.

Combined with Walter Musona, the two 35-year-olds have turned heads, raising the million-dollar question: who will stop them?

Musona had a slow start to the season but hit his stride in the last five games, scoring seven goals, including two braces. He is now the firm favorite to win the June Player of the Month award.

MUSONA AND BILLIAT IMPRESS MOTAUNG YET AGAIN

Billiat, on the other hand, has been as slick as ever, matching Musona with seven goals in 18 matches. The pair have been so good that sections of Zimbabwean fans believe they still deserve spots in the Warriors squad ahead of some youngsters.

More pertinently, they have hit a purple patch just as Kaizer Chiefs announced Scottland FC as their opponents in the 2026 Toyota Cup, the third edition of the prestigious competition.

And the Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung was thrilled after witnessing the Musona-Billiat dazzling show. “They are still the best. These guys are still at the top of their game,” Motaung said as he walked out of the VIP stands at Rufaro Stadium.

Reinventing themselves has also brought hope for Scottland FC as they prepare for their first-ever CAF Champions League campaign in 2026/27, which kicks off in August.

HOW THE TOYOTA CUP IS SIGNIFICANT FOR BILLIAT AND MUSONA

The 2026 Toyota Cup fixture is a significant moment for the Soweto giants as two of their most celebrated attackers in recent history return to face their former club.

Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona, who both enjoyed prolific spells at Naturena, will line up against Kaizer Chiefs for the first time since leaving the club.

Scheduled for Rustenburg at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, the match continues the Toyota Cup tradition of hosting top-tier African opposition, following previous editions featuring Young Africans and Asante Kotoko.
