The Northern Region Soccer League title race is beginning to take shape, and it remains one of the most competitive leagues in the country, with just five points separating the top eight teams after 13 rounds of fixtures.

Harare City sit at the summit with 24 points from 13 matches after winning seven games and conceding only six goals all season. Their defensive solidity has been the foundation of their success, although their lead is far from comfortable.

Just one point behind are Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 and Black Rhinos FC, both on 23 points. Ngezi occupy second place thanks to a superior goal difference, while Rhinos remain firmly in the promotion conversation.

One of the stories of the season is Chingwere FC, who find themselves in an unfamiliar but exciting position. The newcomers are fourth with 21 points, only three points behind leaders Harare City.

For a club that only gained entry into the league after the ZIFA Appeals Committee upheld their promotion case, Chingwere have exceeded expectations and are now genuine contenders in the top four battle.

With several rounds still to play, one good or bad weekend could dramatically alter the standings.

Positions 9 to 18 are separated by only three points, highlighting how competitive the league has been. Teams such as FC Oden, Black Mambas, Karoi United, Chegutu Pirates, Rangers, PAM FC, Batanai FC, Jumbo Giants, High Range FC and MWOS U19 remain within touching distance of the top half.
