We’re at the business end of the first half of the season. With 20 games gone, the 2026 MCM Northern Region table is tighter than ever and Matchday 21 could swing things at both ends.

The Title & Top 4 fight
League leaders Black Rhinos FC 38pts travel to Batanai 23pts at Trojan Mine. Rhinos only have a 2-point cushion over Harare City 36pts, who host MWOS U19 23pts on Wednesday. A slip by Rhinos and a win for City would put the title race level again as has been the case in the last few game weeks.

Right behind them, Ngezi Stars U19 33pts and G&T Mine 33pts are level on points and both have tough away trips. Ngezi go to Rangers 21pts in Chinhoyi tomorrow, while G&T face PAM FC 23pts at Pfupajena. Drop points here and Golden Eagles 30pts and CP Chemicals 30pts could close in with the two, playing each other at Conway College. That’s a straight top-5 shootout.

Mid-table battles with meaning

Chingwere 29pts vs Black Mambas 23pts at Mkushi is huge for Chingwere’s push for a top-4 finish. They’re only 1 point off Golden Eagles.

Cranborne Bullets Karoi United and Jumbo Giants are all locked on 27 points. Bullets host Karoi at Commando Barracks, while Banket who are on 25 points host Jumbo at Kuwadzana. Three points for any of them could lift them clear of the chasing pack.

Relegation fight drama
The bottom is a dogfight. Zambezi G&C 21pts travel to Chegutu Pirates 24pts at Pfupajena .Pirates will want to put more distance between themselves and the drop.

Rangers 21poits vs Ngezi Stars U19tomorrow is also massive for Rangers. A win could haul them out.

On Wednesday, Shamva Mine 20pts host bottom placed Marere

in a true 6-pointer. Marere are bottom and 5 points from safety , they need a win to keep hope alive. FC Oden 27pts takes on Highrange 24ptsat Chinhoyi could also drag Highrange deeper if they lose.

Game to look forward to –CP Chemicals vs Golden Eagles Conway College Grounds, 15:00

This is the matchday pick. Both teams sit on 30 points, joint 5th and 6th. The winner jumps into the top 4 and keeps serious promotion pressure on.

CP Chemicals have the league’s most potent attack with 28 goals, but they’ve also conceded 21. Golden Eagles are tighter at the back only 10 conceded all season, the best in the league. It’s firepower vs fortress. With Rhinos and City both in tricky fixtures, the winner here could even sniff 2nd place by the end of the weekend.

Other fixtures to watch:

Harare City vs MWOS U19
City need 3 points to keep the pressure on Rhinos.

Batanai vs Black Rhinos
Can the basement fighters cause an upset against the leaders?
