Luphahla fumes as FC Platinum, MWOS FC share spoils

Luphahla fumes as FC Platinum, MWOS FC draw
FC Platinum coach Joel Luphahla was fuming after his team’s 2-2 draw against MWOS FC at Mandava Stadium. Abram Tjahikika and Trevor Bhunu scored for FC Platinum, while Wilson Mensah and Principe Magondo netted for MWOS FC.
The match was intense, with FC Platinum striking first through Tjahikika’s 15th-minute free-kick. MWOS FC equalized just before halftime through Mensah.
The second half saw two red cards and more drama, with Bhunu scoring FC Platinum’s second goal and Magondo leveling for MWOS FC late on.
I’M VERY DISAPPOINTED SAYS LUPHAHLA
Luphahla was disappointed with his team’s defending, feeling they blew a winning opportunity. “I’m very disappointed because we failed to manage the game. In the first half, we had a minute to go and we should’ve done better to manage the game and take control,” he said.
“But we made mistakes – it happens in football. The thing is, you get punished when you don’t do the basics right. The goals we conceded were tough to take, because they were easy to defend if we’d done the basics.”
“It’s a tough lesson for the boys to learn – three points this season is gold. If we keep playing like this, we’re letting our fans down. The two goals we gave away were soft, and we need to grow from this. These boys need to mature quickly, because we don’t have time.”
MWOS FC coach Llyod Mutasa praised his team’s resilience, saying they passed a tough test. He said “Joe [Luphahla] and his team are doing great – he’s a good coach with talented youngsters playing attractive football at home. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we really wanted the win.
“You get scored, you come back, you get scored again, you come back – it’s a testament to the team’s resilience and spirit. I can only praise the players for that. We came here wanting three points, just like the home team. We’ll take the points we get and move on.”
On the PSL table, MWOS FC are sixth on the table with 13 points while FC Platinum are ninth on the table with 11 points on their tally.
