After securing a decent sponsorship package from Betterbrands, Kwekwe United continue to fare well on the transfer market—this time securing the services of former Dynamos striker Evans Katema.
The 37-year-old centre-forward was last on the books of PSL side Manica Diamonds, having joined in 2024. He joins Kwekwe United, who are strongly bidding for a quick return to the elite league following their disastrous 2025 campaign.
Under the new leadership of president Bridgette Mudhosi, Kwekwe United are oozing confidence that they can conquer and win the Central Region Soccer League promotion ticket to the PSL.
Simply put, their business on the market has been telling—having secured also well-travelled defender Partson Jaure, a former Dynamos son himself.
They also lured Sadney Urikhob, and Valentine Kadonzvo is now their analyst. He is likely to be doubling as an analyst and a player. The likes of Ian Nyoni, Ricky Bota and Babadi Tsiphamba will spare the team.

And Katema is also expected to bring the goals they will need to win games in the Central Region. Katema and Kadonzvo were on target over the weekend when Kwekwe Golden Boys beat Chegutu Pirates 2-0 in a friendly match played on Saturday.
Most importantly, the club has opened a fresh page after last season’s disaster. The team struggled mightily, finishing bottom with a record-low 10 points from 34 matches.
Financial woes exacerbated their struggles, leading to key player and coach departures, including Saul Chaminuka and Paul Chimalizeni. With three coaches in one season, Kwekwe United’s revival now hinges on coach Tendai Chikuni.
