How the Four Nations tourney is important for The Warriors & Co

A Malawian international has highlighted how the upcoming Mukuru Four Nations Tournament is a key prep for The Warriors and the other three nations, in gearing up for the next AFCON qualifiers.

The Mukuru Four Nations Tournament is being hosted by Botswana at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown between 28 and 31 March. The Warriors, Zambia’s Chipolopolo, and The Flames of Malawi complete the quartet of teams competing.

HOW THE WARRIORS, ZAMBIA, MALAWI AND BOTSWANA WILL BENEFIT

Without a doubt, the Mukuru Four Nations Tournament is a golden opportunity to sustain and uplift football in the Southern Africa region, according to Malawian international, Limbikani Mzava.

“This tournament serves as vital preparation for SADC teams ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers. It’s an important step in building on the momentum from the last AFCON, where six SADC nations qualified.

“It also provides a valuable platform for players to showcase their talent and attract the attention of scouts,” Mzava, who was part of the draw on Monday, said. Mzava previously played for AmaZulu FC in South Africa.

Rhett Delaney, Mukuru’s Head of Brand & Product Marketing, emphasized the company’s commitment to the COSAFA region’s football.

“As you know, three of these countries recently competed at the AFCON finals in Morocco. Mukuru takes great pride in this milestone, not only as a moment of achievement but as a reflection of the region’s growing football potential,” he said.

“Our focus has always been on connecting with communities through sport. Football, in particular, is a powerful unifier across our markets.”

The tournament is massive for the hosting country, Botswana, as they have also signalled interest in hosting AFCON with South Africa as co-host.
