Grand Legacy stun Tenax‎


Grand Legacy Football Club produced one of the shocks of the season in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League following their 2-0 win over Tenax Correctional Services Football Club in a week 2 encounter played on Friday afternoon at St Paul’s Musami Stadium in Murehwa.

‎Munashe Nadolo and Oscar Nyatsuro were on target as the new boys pulled a shocker in Murehwa as they began their home campaign with a win having lost their opening game 3-0 away at Green Fuel.

‎Coming into this game Tenax who where runners-up in last seasons Pacific Storm season were hot favourites to prevail but the Golden Boys as Grand Legacy FC are monikered had other ideas.

‎The match started on a high tempo with both sides attacking as they sought the opening goal.

‎Tenax could have found the opener in the 32nd minute but Clarence Mbauya’s effort ricocheted off the crossbar.

‎Five minutes later Philip Kureti was denied by Grand Legacy goal minder Danny Tagara having dispossessed Stephen Makatuka deep inside the final third and advanced towards goal, but an alert Tagara quickly got off his line and thwarted Kureti.

‎They lived to rue those chances as Nadolo opened the scoring in the 39th minute.

‎On the stroke of halftime Troy Kwambana could have found the leveller but his weak shot after he was unmarked inside the box was safely collected by Tagara.

‎The resumption of the second half saw Grand Legacy absorb the pressure the visitors threw at them as they sought the equalizer.

‎Against the run of play Nyatsuro sealed the win after a swift counter attack.

‎After the match Grand Legacy FC head Coach Collin Chinyani was satisfied with the win in a difficult match against a giant describing it as a sweet victory.

‎”This was difficult match, last year, they have been playing in the Eastern Region for a long time, we are new boys and coming here and playing against Tenax and winning I think it was a sweet victory for us,” said Chinyani.

‎His opposite member Gibson Mutemera Tenax Gibson Mutemera the Tenax CS FC head coach was disappointed with the result, ruing missed opportunities.

‎”We failed to convert our chances today, we created many chances in the first forty minutes of the game but failed to convert them.

‎”They got their chances and converted them, punishing us,” said Mutemera.
