Deportivo La Murambinda double up as Sarfo and Mateesanwa sweep June awards

Deportivo La Murambinda Football Club made it a clean sweep in the individual categories as the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League announced its June awards.
Midfield anchor Kofi Sarfo was named Player of the Month, following Ghanaian compatriot George Adu who won in May.
Goalkeeper Tinashe Mateesanwa was also recognised, taking home the Goalkeeper of the Month award.
It marks the first time two players from the same club have won back-to-back POTM awards since the league began in September 2025, and the first time the accolade has gone to two Ghanaians in successive months.
For Sarfo, the honour was about the collective.
“I felt honoured and humbled,” Sarfo told Fanzone. “I immediately thanked God because without Him none of this would be possible. This award belongs to all of us my teammates and coaches.”
His consistency was key in June providing defensive stability, dictating tempo, and supporting the attack.
“I listened to the coach and tried to give everything in every game,” said Sarfo. “My focus has been on helping the team perform well rather than chasing individual recognition.”
He also paid tribute to Adu:
“George is my brother. Seeing him win in May pushed me to work harder. For us to go back-to-back as Ghanaians shows we are building something special here.”
Between the posts, Mateesanwa was equally outstanding, and his Goalkeeper of the Month award underlined La Murambinda’s strength at both ends of the pitch.
The club awards were not the only talking point. Gibson Mutemera of Tenax CS FC was named Coach of the Month for June.
On the field, La Murambinda’s form matches the accolades.
Under Lovemore Dzoro, the Murambinda based side sit 5th with 34 points, just three behind leaders Yadah FC in a tightly contested five-team title race.
Despite the individual recognition, Sarfo says the target remains unchanged.
“The mindset in the camp is unity and belief. The awards are a confidence boost, but we did not come here for individual prizes. If we stay united, disciplined, and hungry, we have every chance of achieving something memorable this season. Our supporters deserve that,” added Sarfo.
