Chapungu’s Edward Watson knocking on PSL doors once again

Chapungu FC striker Edward Watson is knocking hard on the PSL doors once again, with sterling performances in the Airmen’s blistering start to the 2026 Central Region Soccer League season.
Perched at the summit of the log table with 10 points from four matches, Chapungu have been blistering. And Watson has been their mainstay, having scored five goals.
Watson is returning after a full season on the sidelines due to a broken leg. His return has all but infused new life into Chapungu, as they believe they can return to the PSL again, seven years after relegation.
Over the weekend, Watson notched a brace as The Airmen beat MSU FC 3-0 in a Gweru derby that was played at the MSU grounds.
His form has already caught the eye of PSL teams, with FC Platinum keeping a close eye on the 2024 Central Region Soccer Star of the Year. Last season’s top scorer Wilfred Madzungu in the region has already found a new home in the PSL at Hardrock FC.
Meanwhile, other games played in the Central Region produced decent results, with West Nicholson beating Good Morning FC 1-0 at Kotamai stadium.
Vhembe Stars Academy and Matobo FC settled for a goalless draw at Ronnies grounds in Beitbridge. Grain Tigers and Tongogara FC also settled for a 2-2 draw at Mbizo stadium.
The clash between Gwanda Pirates and Sabi Gold Mine was abandoned after the 67th minute due to heavy rains in Gwanda. The match will resume from the exact time on Thursday, 23 April, at the same venue, Phelandaba Stadium.
