Chapungu take pole position in Central Region as Pirates stun Kwekwe United

Chapungu FC stormed to the top of the Central Region Soccer League, after unleashing a marauding performance to pip rivals, Shabanie Mine FC, to pole position after Matchday Three.
The Airforce side put up a sterling performance at Ascot Stadium in Gweru, beating a hapless ZRP Gwanda side, sealing seven points in three matches. Edward Watson notched a brace as Believe Mudzangwe and Divine Sibanda scored the other goals.
Tied on the same number of points with second-placed Shabanie, the Airmen are in a bullish mood, eyeing a return to the PSL seven years after being relegated.
Shabanie Mine settled for a 1-1 draw with a battling Blanket Mine FC at Maglas Stadium on Sunday. The Chinda Boys had to come back from behind to force a share of the spoils.

GWANDA PIRATES BEAT KWEKWE UNITED IN LEAGUE BLOCKBUSTER CLASH
in what was the weekend’s blockbuster clash, Star Studded were left with their tails between their legs after losing 1-0 to Gwanda Pirates in their own backyard, Baghdad Stadium. Kwekwe United had won their previous match, but Johannes Ngodzo’s men proved too good to be cowed into submission.
In the other matches played, MSU FC, whose first two matches were postponed due to participation in ZUSA games, beat Shurugwi FC 1-0 at Makusha Stadium in Shurugwi on Sunday.
GMB-owned Grain Tigers beat Matobo FC 3-0 at Minda Stadium, while West Nicholson drew 1-1 with Super Strikers in a Gwanda derby.
At Sabi Mine Stadium, Sabi Gold Mine FC beat Vhembe Stars Academy 2-1, while Tongogara beat FC Platinum Under-19 2-0. In Beitbridge, newbies Good Morning collected points on the road when they beat Dulibadzimu United 1-0 at Dulibadzimu Stadium.
