The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table underwent several significant changes following Matchday 19 action, with Scottland FC extending their lead at the summit while Herentals College made the biggest move in the top four after defeating CAPS United.

Scottland strengthened their title credentials with a crucial 2-0 away victory over Ngezi Platinum Stars at the Baobab, courtesy of goals from Moses Shidolo and Khama Billiat.

The result sees Mabviravira move from 37 points after 18 matches to 40 points from 19 games, opening a seven-point gap at the top of the table. Their defensive record remains the best in the league, having conceded just six goals all season.

The biggest movement in the top positions came at Rufaro Stadium where Herentals College edged CAPS United 2-1. The Students moved from fifth place on 30 points to second place on 33 points, leapfrogging both Ngezi Platinum and CAPS United.

Herentals now have 24 goals scored and 18 conceded after 19 matches.

CAPS United’s defeat proved costly. Makepekepe started the day second on 33 points but dropped to third place, remaining on 33 points but behind Herentals on goal difference and head-to-head considerations.

Takesure Chiragwi’s men dropped points for the 7th time in their last 8 matches.

Ngezi Platinum were another side to lose ground in the title race. Beginning the weekend fourth on 32 points, Madamburo’s defeat to Scottland leaves them on the same tally but dropping to fifth position, overtaken by both Herentals and CAPS United.

Lower down the top half, MWOS continued their steady rise. Their 1-1 draw away at TelOne lifted them from 26 to 27 points, enough to move above Simba Bhora into eighth place.

Simba Bhora suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat at FC Hunters at The Heart Stadium.

FC Hunters were among the weekend’s biggest beneficiaries. Their victory over Simba Bhora saw them climb from 16 points to 19 points, moving from 14th to 14th place still, but now level on points with ZPC Kariba and significantly closer to the mid-table pack.

Bulawayo Chiefs also enjoyed a productive afternoon, beating Agama 2-0. The victory lifts Amakhosi Amahle from 17 to 20 points, moving them up from 13th to 12th place, overtaking ZPC Kariba.

At the bottom, Agama’s defeat leaves them stuck on 13 points and falling to 16th place, while TelOne’s draw moves them to 13 points as well. Manica Diamonds remain in the relegation zone on 12 points, with Triangle United still rooted to the bottom on 10 points.
