Benjani Mwaruwari makes bold statement about Kuda Mahachi

Former Warriors striker and current Highlanders FC coach Benjani Mwaruwari has insisted Kuda Mahachi is a special breed of player, as he is turning back the hands of time at the Bulawayo side.

Mahachi has emerged as a vital cog amid the club’s financial struggles, where players have reportedly gone on industrial action on numerous occasions.

He rejoined the club from Manica Diamonds following a period of struggles that saw him appear in court followed by a stint in Ghana.

The 32-year-old has featured in most matches for Bosso this season, but it is his character and mindset that have amazed Mwaruwari.

The former Manchester City striker, Mwaruwari, has deployed Mahachi at left-back, a position no one expected to see him play.

But Mahachi has not disappointed, as he has weighed in with good shift after good shift. While Mahachi dazzles on the left-back channel, Andrew Mbeba roves on the right-back channel, making Bosso dangerous from full-back areas.

‘HE IS SPECIAL’ SAYS MWARUWARI

However, with the arrival of natural left-back Ephany Gwavava, Mahachi is likely to return to his known attacking role. But how he has risen from the ashes like a phoenix has left coach Mwaruwari lost for words.

“He is good. He has given us good shift after shift and that’s why he is here at Highlanders FC. He’s a very important player, a special one. Even when he is not playing, he reads the game so well for us and he pushes the players from the side.

“We talk a lot on and off the field. Honestly, he is quality, and he is re-writing his path — I don’t even know how best to explain it. Honestly, he is special,” Mwaruwari said.

Meanwhile, Highlanders FC are walking with a spring in their step after beating log leaders Scottland FC on Sunday at Barbourfields. They face ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga Stadium on Wednesday in a Matchday 24 assignment.
