Highlanders unveils Wicknell Chivayo donated bus

Highlanders FC has received a major boost ahead of the upcoming season, with businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo donating a new team bus to the club.

The bus was unveiled at Highlanders Sports Club in a ceremony attended by club officials, players, and the media.

Speaking on behalf of Sir Wicknell, Highlanders’ Jabulani Nkomo said the donation was a gesture of the entrepreneur’s love for the club and his commitment to seeing it succeed.

“Sir Wicknell is not trying to take over Highlanders, but is simply fulfilling the president’s vision of inclusivity and John Landa Nkomo’s wishes for the club to become great again,” Nkomo said.

Nkomo also took the opportunity to urge Highlanders fans and the Bulawayo business community to support the club, saying it was shameful that a Harare-based businessman had come to the rescue of the team.

Board chairman Luke Mnkandla hailed the donation as a significant milestone for the club, saying the bus was more than just a vehicle – it was a symbol of Highlanders’ continued growth and success.

“This bus is a symbol that Highlanders continues to move forward. It’s a symbol of the legacy of this great institution, founded on pride, resilience, and unity,” Mnkandla said, expressing gratitude to Sir Wicknell for the donation.

The bus is expected to ease the team’s travel woes and boost morale ahead of the new season.
